  • Who Needs Lower Blepharoplasty?
  • As the skin thins and loses elasticity with age, the under-eye area can sag, revealing underlying bone structures.
The under-eyes tend to show signs of aging more quickly than the upper eyelids. Additionally, excess fat accumulation beneath the eyes can cause protrusion, further contributing to an aged appearance.
The under-eye aging process varies from person to person, requiring different surgical approaches, such as correcting wrinkles, addressing sagging, and removing or repositioning under-eye fat.
Therefore, a professional diagnosis is essential.
  • 맥스리프팅
Individuals with sagging lower eyelids and wrinkles
When the skin under the eyes loses elasticity and develops significant wrinkles, excess skin is removed, and the sagging eyelids are restored to their original position.
  • 맥스리프팅
Individuals with a hollow appearance of the lower eyelids
If the lower eyelids lack elasticity and appear hollow due to insufficient fat, it can contribute to an older appearance.
Lower blepharoplasty can restore sagging eyelids to their original elasticity while simultaneously filling hollow areas with fat grafting or repositioning.
  • 맥스리프팅
Individuals experiencing sagging of both the lower eyelids and under-eye fat
In cases where both the lower eyelids and protruding under-eye fat are sagging, combining lower blepharoplasty with the removal of excess under-eye fat, along with the repositioning or grafting of fat to correct volume loss in the tear trough and hollowed areas, can lead to significant improvement.

    • Why We Are Confident in Eye Surgery
    • Since 1992
Our team of dedicated plastic surgeons, specializing in upper blepharoplasty, has provided comprehensive care from consultation to surgery and post-surgery management.

For over 30 years, we have employed precise diagnostics and analyses of factors like eyelid aging and thickness. Our approach is tailored to your individual needs, ensuring a personalized upper blepharoplasty procedure rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.
    • Q.Is Lower Blepharoplasty Different From Under-Eye Fat Repositioning?

    • A. Lower blepharoplasty involves making an incision along the outer lower lash line to remove sagging tissue, followed by the excision of excess skin to improve under-eye wrinkles and sagging. In contrast, under-eye fat repositioning involves removing excess orbital fat from the inside of the lower eyelid and redistributing some of it to fill hollow areas along the tear trough.
Lower blepharoplasty often includes under-eye fat repositioning.

    • Q.Will There Be Noticeable Scarring?

    • A. Lower blepharoplasty involves making an incision along the outer lower lash line, which may initially result in visible scarring. However, these scars tend to fade over time.
Individual variations exist, and in cases where scars take longer to fade, appropriate scar management programs, such as laser treatments, can aid in reducing scarring.

    • Q.Are There Any Side Effects?

    • A. All surgeries carry the potential for unexpected discomfort or side effects.
To minimize these risks, it is essential to consult with experienced specialists and carefully follow post-surgery care instructions.
If you experience significant discomfort, severe bleeding, heat sensation, inflammation, or any other concerning symptoms, it is important to promptly contact the clinic for appropriate care.

    • Q.Will It Be Painful?

    • A. Post-surgery pain is typically mild, but some discomfort may occur as the anesthesia wears off.
Diligently following post-surgery instructions and guidelines, along with taking all prescribed medications from the clinic, can help prevent inflammation and alleviate pain.

    • Q.When Can I Return to Daily Activities?

    • A. Aside from the surgical mark being noticeable and slightly uncomfortable, the typical recovery period for bruising and swelling is around 2 to 3 weeks.
After this period, you can resume daily activities such as applying eye makeup and wearing contact lenses.
Over the following 3 to 6 months, the tissues affected by the surgery will gradually heal, resulting in a natural outcome.
By following the post-surgery instructions provided by the hospital, you can expect a faster recovery and more stable surgical results.

    • Q.What Are the Post-Surgery Precautions?

    • A. Prior to the surgery, the clinic will provide you with explanations, consent forms, and pre-surgery instructions.
After the surgery, the clinic will provide post-surgery instructions as well as prescribed medication. Some important post-surgery instructions include abstaining from alcohol and smoking for about a month to prevent bleeding and infection. If you experience itching, swelling, or allergic reactions around the eyes while taking antibiotics after the surgery, discontinue the medication and visit the clinic. It is advisable to avoid getting water on or around the eyes for about a week.
To reduce bruising, swelling, and bleeding, cold compresses can be applied for approximately 2 to 3 days after the surgery, followed by a combination of warm and cold compresses after one week, along with light walking.
It is important to avoid positions that increase blood pressure around the eye area, such as bending over.
